Poquoson Elementary School
CLIENT: Poquoson City Public Schools
The new Poquoson Elementary School is an 80,000 square foot elementary school building which consists of classrooms, staff offices, a cafeteria, kitchen, media center, and gymnasium. The building heated and cooled by a ground source heat pumps system, with dedicated outside air units which provide fresh ventilation air and recover heat from exhaust air. The building has achieved a LEED Gold level certification.
Staengl Engineering provided commissioning services for the project. The HVAC system consisted of variable refrigerant volume systems and energy recovery ventilators providing ventilation air.
“For me, having Staengl Engineering commission our building was the most valuable expenditure we made on this entire project.”
