Staengl Engineering Project in the News – Hershey Montessori School

The new Hershey Montessori Upper School opened in Huntsburg, OH in February 2018. This energy-efficient and sustainable building is the first school in the Midwest to be constructed to Passive House (PHIUS) standards. Ben Bowman, the school’s facilities manager, explained that the school incorporates numerous cutting-edge energy efficiency enhancements that make it a very special structure. “The building has a remarkably low heating and cooling load because it’s extremely well insulated,” he said. “So, by spending a little more money on the skin, the (climate-control) equipment becomes less expensive over time.” Staengl Engineering provided HVAC and energy consulting through PassivScience, the Passive House consultants for the project. http://www.news-herald.com/general-news/20180205/hershey-montessori-school-to-host-grand-opening-at-new-upper-school-in-huntsburg-township.
