Dovetail Construction's New Offices Receives LEED Platinum:
Dovetail Construction's New Offices was awarded LEED Platinum, the highest level of certification provided by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) under its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. The project is also on track to be a Net Zero Energy building. Notable energy features included a super insulated building envelope, high efficiency LED lighting, a high efficiency geothermal heating and cooling design, energy recovery from exhausted ventilation air, and a photovoltaic array to generate power. Dovetail Construction's New Offices was awarded a 2010 Green Innovation award for the Best Commercial Project by the Virginia Sustainable Building Network, at VSBN's annual meeting. The project is pursuing LEED Platinum level certification, and will eventually be a Net Zero Energy building. The Poquoson Elemenary School Achieves LEED Gold:
The Poquoson Elementary School has achieved a LEED Gold level certification under USGBC's LEED rating system. The new 80,000 square foot elementary school contains classrooms, break-out spaces, offices, a cafeteria, media center and gymnasium. The Claude Moore Education Complex Achieves LEED Gold:
The Roanoke Higher Education Center achieved a LEED Gold level certification for its new Claude Moore Education Complex. The renovated complex includes a lecture hall, meeting spaces, and a teaching kitchen which will be operated by the new culinary arts program from Virginia Western Community College. The Free Union Country School's New Arts Buiding Receives JRGBC Honor Award:
The Free Union Country School's New Arts Building design was awarded the Honor award by the James River of the US Green Building Council as a part of the first annual Virginia GoGreen Awards. The New Arts Building's environmentally sensitive design recieved the top honor at the awards ceremony, which was held at the University of Richmond's Jepson Center. Read Project Description
Ernie Morgan Environmental Action Center Receives JRGBC Merit Award:

The Ernie Morgan Environmental Action Center was awarded a Merit award by the James River chapter of the US Green Building Council as a part of the first annual Virginia GoGreen Awards. Ernie Morgan Environmental Action Center Receives AIA Award:
The Ernie Morgan Environmental Action Center was awarded a design Merit award by the James River chapter of the AIA. The project is intended to earn a LEED Platinum rating for its environmentally sensitive design, and will be a net energy exporter. Read more about the project here.

Staengl Engineering was recognized by the Virginia Sustainable Building Network at VSBN's 10th anniversary celebration. Staengl Engineering was recognized as a leader in the region, promoting energy efficient building design.
